Global Entry

What is Global Entry ?

Global Entry is a trusted traveler program operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. This program is designed to streamline the international arrivals process at airports, making it quicker and more efficient for participants. To join Global Entry, applicants must undergo a thorough background check and an in-person interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center. Once approved, travelers can use automated kiosks at select airports by simply scanning their passport or U.S. permanent resident card, placing their fingertips on the scanner for fingerprint verification, and completing a customs declaration form electronically. The kiosk issues a receipt that the traveler then presents to a CBP officer before exiting the customs area.

Global Entry members also enjoy TSA PreCheck benefits, allowing them to use expedited security lanes at participating U.S. airports. TSA PreCheck allows travelers to keep their shoes, belts, and light jackets on, and leave laptops and compliant liquids in their carry-on bags when going through security. The combination of Global Entry and TSA PreCheck can significantly reduce wait times and streamline the travel experience for frequent international travelers. The benefits of Global Entry include not only faster entry into the United States but also access to expedited entry programs in other countries that have reciprocal agreements with the U.S. Many travelers find that the time and hassle saved with Global Entry more than offset the application fee, which is valid for five years.

Who is Eligible to Apply for Global Entry ?

To be eligible to apply for Global Entry, individuals must meet the following criteria:

1) Citizenship or Permanent Residency:
Applicants must be a citizen of the United States, a U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or a citizen of certain other countries with whom the United States has reciprocal agreements for Global Entry eligibility.

2) Clean Criminal Record:
Applicants must have no criminal convictions, customs, immigration, or agricultural violations, or pending criminal charges.

3) Low Risk Traveler Status:
Applicants should be considered low-risk travelers based on CBP's assessment of their background, travel history, and other factors.

4) Compliance with CBP Regulations:
Applicants must comply with all U.S. customs, immigration, and agriculture regulations, as well as any other CBP requirements.

5) Ability to Attend an Interview:
Applicants must be able to attend an in-person interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center. Interviews are typically required as part of the application process.

It's important to note that meeting these criteria does not guarantee approval for Global Entry. Each application is subject to review by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and additional factors may be considered during the application process.
